SMART Goals UX Journey - Lexi Lewis

This project centered around creating a personalized experience strategy for Lexi Lewis, a freelance designer managing a growing business. The goal was to help Lexi create structure around her time, clients, and long-term business vision through the lens of SMART goals. Using UX thinking, I developed a goal-setting experience that was not only organized — but truly motivating.

The Problem:

Lexi wanted more consistency and confidence in her daily work but lacked a clear system to manage goals or track progress. As a creative freelancer, she was overwhelmed by to-do lists and scattered ideas, without a clear plan to scale or prioritize. The challenge was to build a structure that supported accountability while still being flexible, visual, and user-friendly.

Process & Strategy:

I used UX and project management principles to design a multi-layered SMART goal experience tailored to Lexi’s needs. The process included:

  • Creating a custom persona and mapping her pain points

  • Breaking down her goals into short-term, medium-term, and long-term sprints

  • Building a strategy for goal tracking, content batching, and team building

  • Designing a visual presentation using Adobe Express to clearly explain the journey in under 3 minutes

Each goal was tied to actionable steps and paired with tools Lexi was already familiar with (like Canva, Trello, and Instagram).

SMART Goal Highlights:

  1. Short-Term: Set up a digital task board (Trello) and commit to daily check-ins

  2. Medium-Term: Increase conversions by posting twice weekly on Instagram

  3. Long-Term: Grow a creative team by identifying key roles and testing a collaborative project

Deliverables:

  • SMART Goals Worksheet

  • Adobe Express video (w/ voiceover, music, and visuals)

  • Persona profile + goal map

  • Stylized Instagram mockup for content inspiration

  • Visual timeline showing Lexi’s path from chaos → structure

Tools Used:

Miro, Adobe Express, Canva, Trello, Google Docs

What I Learned:

This project taught me how to turn abstract user goals into clear, visual, actionable experiences — even when there’s no product interface involved. It was a chance to blend UX storytelling, content strategy, and behavior design, and it reminded me that good experience design isn’t just about apps and wireframes — it’s about clarity, motivation, and helping real people move forward.
